Not sure if anyone else has got the Bett 2020 app but actually looks OK this year.

Looks like you can scan other colleagues and see who has scanned you. You can also arrange meetings with others

Not found a map built into the app yet though

The E-Newsletter yesterday said those registered by I think it was 4pm yesterday will get a pack in the post with a map so lets see what turns up in the post!

Also impressed you got the App working I've tried twice and given up said no and contact support link didn't work as its not coded right, maybe they have fixed something since I tried...

Ive got the app but all you can do on it is make meetings with people, well thats all i worked out how to do!!

Last year there was a list of suppliers and what stand they were on you could add them to your favourites then you could view a site plan with the favourited stands coloured in then you can just tick them as you visit them. It also used gps to know where you were in the halls.

Hopefully this will appear in an update in the next week or so as it was great!

I was called by 'BETT', asking if I'd downloaded the app. They went on to explain the benefits: that you can see meeting invites and requests from people.

They later went on to explain that if you didn't answer pending requests it stopped other people making requests, so if that is true and you don't want to be harassed - ignore your invites! ;)

I asked if it was the same app as last year, but the guy didn't know because he didn't work for BETT last year, but apparently, it's better.

I had to request a password reset to get into the app, and see my invites, 1 of which I did actually want.

It looks like it's more of a networking tool, which if they promote it as such isn't a totally bad thing but will easily be abused and won't be too efficient. I don't see a map, and doubt it will have one if the focus is more on setting up invites. The list of suppliers is searchable, the same as on the website and you can favourite events and see a schedule; and can mark yourself "interested" in a product / supplier. If they do the same, then you're a match and can setup a hot date.

So basically, it's Tinder for BETT :

Grip is the first and most advanced AI-powered event networking solution on the market. We empower professionals and the event industry by providing full-cycle support that facilitates quality interactions. At its core, our proprietary technology drives intelligent recommendations through Grip's self-learning matchmaking engine.

I've been looking through seminars and suppliers i might be interested in, and it gives you the stand locations, but no map is a big weakness.

It seems more tailored to the ones selling rather than the ones buying, so it looks like we're back to good old fashioned paper maps.

Drop by the EduGeek stand to pick up spare maps, or for directions. We're here to help. (oh and something about pizza and twitter... blah blah blah)

Edit: So apparently, you are supposed to be able to create a customisable map....

Connect@Bett is a dedicated matchmaking service that provides a platform for both our visitors and exhibitors to make meaningful connections before and during the show. This is your chance to build your own content agenda and create your own customisable map by filtering suppliers and products. Our AI-powered app takes the pressure off finding the right connections before or at the show, giving you a higher return on your time. So download the app, start swiping and get connecting!

I suspect (*hope) it will be added later with last minute updates. The bot help on the website is useless as it fails on the first filtering question!

Dear god... It is awful.

This is coming from me who designed and delivered apps commercially, it really is terrible.

The sign up is tedious (let alone UI design).

Aside from everything crashing all over the place, most people are going to want the map most of the time, where the hell is it?

No I am forced to do meetings with random people, or whatever top dollar paid partner 'trail thing' which I think is a bit bad as it makes it even harder for the startups and small stands.

Please for the love of all that is holy (plenty of religion in here today) can someone decent be given the contract next year...

Just discussing it here its not gone down well at all :D I had to sign up for 2 badges because I couldn't log on with my previous one.

I could of sworn last years was slightly better it had an interactive map that worked on your location, you could add all the stands you wanted to visit and it had them highlighted on the map..dont see anything like that this year

I have used this the last few years and it was great! Going to make my visit tomorrow slightly harder to navigate!

Looks like if you go to the companies list, find the company you want and then click on the stand number at the top it loads a map with the stand highlighted and your location. I think you can also do this from the interactive map and searching for the supplier.

Not as nice as previous years but this is my plan for tomorrow - with a list of stands i want to go see saved in a note on my iphone.

There is a floorplan available on the app under More on the bottom left, then Floorplan. I had to enter and select BETT, as it didn't come up automatically.

It's an ongoing irony that a tech exhibition can produce such a painfully poor app...

Map crashes for me... But funnily enough the ads for Microsoft events and other premium partners... They came though just fine!

And that matching service thing... No, just no... Was the final straw I just deleted it.

Yeah, the "corporate tinder" aspect of the app can go away, don't like that. I've left it on my phone, I'll see if I use it / if it works in the poor signal at Excel.
