Send him to space

Hey All,

 

Happy new year abd all that nice stuff.

 

Been tasked with sending a Lego bloke to space while filming his journey. (ideally the camera comes back to retrieve the footage)

 

Have any of you guys done this in your school? If so, how?

 

Any advice woulod be great

Have a look at https://www.alphr.com/raspberry-pi/raspberry-pi/1002611/how-i-sent-a-raspberry-pi-into-near-space it gives some insight as to what is needed and you can just put the lego figure in the box.

Never done it myself but would assume you would need to get hold of a weather balloon and a gopro at the minimum.

 

I would suggest attaching some form of GPS tracking device to the gopro too so you can retrieve it.

There was a French school who did a similar thing with a balloon and the project is on YouTube, perhaps that can give you some ideas?

This might sound like a daft question - but if it lands in another country, how on earth are you going to get it back?

This was going to be my suggestion, find a Uni that has done it close by that would be willing to work with you or a company that specialises. May seem overkill but there are lots of things to cover doing one of these.

I would put on there a note asking to be called if found for example.

Yeah, unless you can control the descent somehow it may land in a war zone or the middle of an ocean.
