Afternoon,

We have 4 MDFs that are set to Hold/Release. Print jobs are sent to the printer fine, but randomly some jobs just won't print. No errors or anything. Looking on the logs, you sometimes see the credit refunded, like the job was deleted. Although i have seen this happen myself and the user is 100% not deleting jobs.

Support cannot really help because the problem is so random its hard to replicate to show them. Its that random, a staff member can print 10 documents and 3 of them won't print. But then print another 10 and all will release.

Has anyone seen this before? The new managed print install is looking like a failure because of all the issues as you know the stress printing can cause some members of staff.

Any ideas, i'm more than happy to try.

Thanks,

Joe.

Check what paper type / size is expected.

I find that if printer properties on the server dont align with those on the actual printer then when our users print mutlple copies they only get one.

Is there anything in Papercut's logs?

Do you have print archiving enabled?

I've seem similar issues where the jobs seemed to vanish once released. Disabling print archiving (and upgrading to Papercut MF 19.2.1) seemed to resolve it.

We did have print archiving yeah. I will turn that off now. I hope the update fixes it - I will get this booked in.

Fingers crossed.

We have Print Archiving and Find-Me printing working fine. Don't think that's the root cause for your problem.

Which printers are you using? We use Konica Minolta and every now and then it won't be from IE or edge, but will from chrome the event log just says that error deletion and nothing further. I contacted Konica for this and they didn't have any reasoning behind it.

What version PaperCut are you on as there is a bug in some recent versions. Versions to avoid are 19.1.4 (was withdrawn), 19.1.5 and 19.2.0.

19.2.1 seems ok and has resolved some of the above issues I was having.

Just to update you all.

We did the update and nothing changed. Turns out our print scripting was using an old script that had a bug, whereas it would appear at the MFD but within papercut it would give the status 'Awaiting credentials'.

I will report back in a few days but the new script seems to patch this.
