Ctouch remote control issue

Hi All,

There is probably nothing we can do technically to fix this but I thought I'd throw it out there anyway.

We have a few Ctouch screens at school. It would appear that the students have discovered that they can install an app on their mobiles that enables them to take control of the screens. At best this results in the screens being turned off all the time. At worst students have been changing screen settings and zooming in and out remotely.

I can't see how but is there a way to limit the remotes that are working with the Ctouch to just one?

 

Can anyone think of a technical way to stop mobiles from doing this?

The obvious answer is to ban mobile phones from the rooms with Ctouch - loathe to suggest that to the SLT for now...

Hi Mark,Reminds me of the days when I went 'on adventure' with an universal TV remote to change the neighbors channels ;-)

 

On Topic:There are several ways to control the Ctouch Laser Air+ without the original remote control:

- Android App using Bluetooth (you can eliminate this by checking the connected devices or disable Bluetooth on the touch screen).

- Android App using internet connection (check the installed apps on the touch screen).

- RS232 (not likely since they need to connect a cable)

- IR Blaster/ Universal remote controller. (This is of course possible with any brand TV/Touch screen). Perhaps a piece of masking tape on the receiver (located on the left of the power button) will do the trick if this is being the case.

 

In case they managed to install an application on the Ctouch screen, you might consider an App locker ;-)

I was also wondering about the masking tape, or some sort of deflector to narrow the IR acceptance angle but unfortunately this is a behaviour issue really. Maybe the offender's could be made to clean the screen as a punishment!

Have you got the Mirror opp? This can be set to generate a random code so it stops unauthorised access?

MirrorOp is only being used for screen sharing. There is no way you can manage (MDM) or alter settings of the screen via MirrorOp. The (random) code in MirrorOp is only being used for authorization of sharing your (PC, Phone) screen to the Ctouch display so not everyone in the same LAN can start sharing content without authentication.
