Hyper-V cluster question

Can I run a mixture of 2012r2 and Server 2016 in the same cluster?

 

A bad afternoon is turning into an even worse evening!!

 

Raid Battery needed replacing - so shut server down and replaced battery - when powered server up it screwed the config

 

HP P380 Gen8 dont support Server 2019 and to save me having to download a 2012r2 ISO - can i Install Server 2016 and make it part of a 2012r2 Cluster?

Feel for ya. But, I've got Server 2019 running on a HP Proliant DL380p Gen8 quite happily acting as a Hyper-V host.

‘Support’ and ‘won’t work’ wildly differ. Server 2019 works fine on G6 hardware, so G8 shouldn’t break a sweat.

Meant DL380p Gen 8 - when I posted I wasn’t fully paying attention when I writing the first bit.

 

Installed 2016 as I couldn’t get 2019 to see the Raid Controller and now waiting for Windows Uodates!

 

Thank god for iLO - I can slowly fix it from the warmth of home and not having to sit in a cold server room :-)

That’s interesting, I have a couple of G5s that could have their lifecycle extended if they run 2019 okay. Can’t see why they wouldn’t, though they’re AMD rather than Intel models.

Even though 2019 drivers aren't on the HP site for gen 5 or 6 I managed to extract the drivers then install via device manager for the raid controller ilo and system management. been 100% reliable.

Those were the same with 2012 R2 - the OS couldn’t automatically install those drivers but the ones from their site did work. Sounds good.
