Anti Virus database update more frequently

Hi all

 

My home laptop uses AVAST free version - which has been working fine for several years

 

however, I have noticed over the last week or so that the virus database has been asking to be updated pretty much every day

 

anyone else noticed this - or, more importantly, are other systems doing the same

 

and is there a reason for this??

A daily update doesn’t surprise me. New threats arise every minute ... a daily update seems sensible,

agreed - but it previously seemed to be far less frequently - once a week or something with occasional update in between

 

 

maybe I just changed a parameter without realising it or something

All the various anti-virus software I've used over the years has and did update daily.

I think Windows Defender updates 3 times daily.

but that seems unlikely as my laptop is so old that a AV update slows it down so much that it can;t be used for a few minutes

 

anyway - as long as it works!!

Don't use any AV except WDAV, all the rest are a) terrible and b) selling all your data if they're free. They're tracking everything about your web browsing, every url, every click.
