Disability Mouse

I am a teacher of Physical Disabilities and working with a lad on his mouse skills. He is ok but due to his condition he jerks occasionally and as a result the mouse shoots across the screen when he has spent time getting into position. Is there a way of getting a mouse input to ignore movements past a certain speed?

 

He can use it fairly well apart from this but can't manage a trackpad.

Can you change the mouse/cursor speed ?

He is normally fairly good it is just the jerks. I have tried slowing it down so it does not get as far but he gets frustrated with the lack of speed!

I'd suggest either a trackball mouse or joystick mouse, probably the trackball if he wants to be fast!

There's a program called SteadyMouse that should help.

 

It's specifically designed to eliminate erratic cursor movement for people with physical disabilities or diseases such as Parkinson's/Multiple Sclerosis.

Search for using a mouse with Parkinsons disease - there were quite a few options.

I took a look at https://www.steadymouse.com seems good. Demo on teh front page seems to smooth out jerky reactions.

 

What about using a trackball instead?
