Dos_Box Posted November 18, 2019 Posted November 18, 2019 (edited) OK, now I have finally got myself free of a lot of work it's time to get this nailed down. I am proposing an EduBytes meet-up on either Saturday the 30th November or Saturday the 14th December in Preston. Looking at at 1pm start. Please let me know which one works for you in the poll. As regards food, I think booking Wings and Beer (Wings and Beer – A sports bar where sport matters & dedicated to the cause. Free range wings & handmade burgers, proper craft beer & ciders and real cocktails & fresh coffee.) as it has a great selection of food and drink as well as plenty of tables available for booking. I had considered Otters Pocket, but it is rather cramped and they do sell out of certain pies quickly at times. I had also thought about The Ferret, but it is a bit of a trek from the station and if a band is setting up can get quite distracting. So, please let me know what you think and I shall get something booked. Edited November 18, 2019 by Dos_Box
DJ-1701 Posted November 18, 2019 Posted November 18, 2019 the 13th is a friday? Yes, which is bad news for the Knights Templar, but hopefully not for you. 1
sted Posted November 18, 2019 Posted November 18, 2019 Yes, which is bad news for the Knights Templar, but hopefully not for you. im still working according to my calendar the week after though i would be technically closer to preston by being in keighley rather than leeds lol
Bedders Posted November 18, 2019 Posted November 18, 2019 Wings & Beer looks good, if it's on the Saturday then I'll book it in now and hope nothing else skewers my plans. It's 1 - 1.5 hours in the car, and looks like there's a car park just down the road.
Dos_Box Posted November 18, 2019 Author Posted November 18, 2019 (edited) the 13th is a friday? Bugger, sure I read that as a Saturday on the calendar. I meant Sat the 14th Dec. Will amend the original post. Edited November 18, 2019 by Dos_Box
Dos_Box Posted November 18, 2019 Author Posted November 18, 2019 BTW, the food in Beer and Wings really is quite nice. I've eaten in there several times now and it's become a popular bar since it opened last year. They do large sharing platters which are nice and...oooh! They have a link to an Xmas menu and Xmas drinks, but the links aren't opening for me yet!
Dos_Box Posted November 28, 2019 Author Posted November 28, 2019 Any updates on this? I shall be posting about this later today hopefully! 2
Dos_Box Posted November 29, 2019 Author Posted November 29, 2019 OK, so it looks like we are going for Saturday the 14th December. I'm going to propose a meeting time of 13:00 at Wings and Beer on Cannon Street in Preston (5 min walk from the train station). If anyone else wants to join in, please let me know as I'll book the table next week. 1

Andycat Posted November 29, 2019 Posted November 29, 2019 I'm gigging that day, so will depend what time my call is. May have to miss, even though I live there!!
StevieM Posted December 3, 2019 Posted December 3, 2019 Don't suppose the place is dog friendly, is it...by any chance?
DJ-1701 Posted December 3, 2019 Posted December 3, 2019 Don't suppose the place is dog friendly, is it...by any chance? Nothing mentioned on their website Wings and Beer – A sports bar where sport matters & dedicated to the cause. Free range wings & handmade burgers, proper craft beer & ciders and real cocktails & fresh coffee. But I guess you could give them a tweet or a call. 1
Bedders Posted December 3, 2019 Posted December 3, 2019 I'm away on 13th sorry folks! Would have been great to finally put some faces to names. Have fun those that attend!
Katy Posted December 5, 2019 Posted December 5, 2019 So are you coming @DJ-1701? It would be the best Christmas present ever to get to meet you 1
DJ-1701 Posted December 5, 2019 Posted December 5, 2019 So are you coming @DJ-1701? It would be the best Christmas present ever to get to meet you 200 miles up, and 200 miles back. Most likely £60 spent not including the meal. I'll think about it... and if I will have any money left.
