MrWu Posted November 15, 2019 Posted November 15, 2019 Hi all Planning to build a Windows 2019 server running latest PaperCut before Christmas. Have folks ran this setup ok? Was thinking of using SQL Express 2016 as the DB Any tips or best practice? Thanks!
Jcx500 Posted November 15, 2019 Posted November 15, 2019 Any reason you want to use ms sql, Papercut's db does the job for most installations 1
Linfit Posted November 15, 2019 Posted November 15, 2019 We have 18.3.6 running on Server 2019, no issues at all, was a very straighforward install and its been in since February. We didn't use an SQL database, just let Papercut install its own, there are about 20 printers on that box printing around 8000 pages a day with approx 1000 users. 1

MrWu Posted November 18, 2019 Author Posted November 18, 2019 Any reason you want to use ms sql, Papercut's db does the job for most installations Hi, only because the Copier people recommended it, we have approx 1500 users on board...
supportman Posted November 19, 2019 Posted November 19, 2019 We used the internal DB for about that size school and it works fine.
ross79 Posted November 20, 2019 Posted November 20, 2019 I would always suggest using an external database regardless of size, there are some great options out there.
MatthewL Posted November 20, 2019 Posted November 20, 2019 I have installs 4 or 5 times bigger running on the internal database with no issues. It's not till your at the 10k user mark when they recommend going to an external database.
