NT6 Cycle: Different number of periods on Friday?

I would like to create a 6 period day Monday-Thursday, but have 8 periods on a Friday for the upper school. Is there a way to do this without creating an 8 period cycle for all years and using blanking codes? It would make the timetable display untidy on our parent web portal...

If a school wants to have an extra period on one day - e.g. periods per day 5, one day to have 6, then the number of periods per day will have to be 6 for all days in the timetable cycle.

 

On the days when this extra period is not required it can be 'blanked' to make scheduling easier and to avoid items being automatically or manually scheduled on unused periods. To do this, add Exclusive period types on the Cycle, or Year blanking blocks on the Model screen.

 

The extra periods are displayed on timetables on days when they do not take place, there is currently no way of removing them from the display or the printout.

I agree.

 

If you use "period type" on the timetable screen they they will not schedule and will just (I assume) show as blank on student timetables. Another period type number can then be used to ensure that upper school only will schedule on the day that you do want it - but I guess you already know that!

Did you find a way round this? It looks similar to my problem!

Can T6 handle this - we have a 2 week cycle with 5 periods each day.

Our usual shape is:

Reg; 1;2;Break; 3; Lunch; 4; 5

 

But for next year I'm being asked for ONE day a cycle (1Wed, if it matters!) to do

 

1; 2; Reg/tutor time; Break; 3; Lunch; 4; 5.

 

Can I trick T6 into letting me do this? (remembering this will also feed into Lesson Monitor).

At the moment Reg is a Non-teaching period - would it help if it wasn't??

 

I seem to have to set the same shape for every day - though I've played with Exclusive/Non-exclusive period types.

Agree, blank periods on Friday for Lower Sch would solve this without confusing faculty.

 

If more Upper/Lower timetable differences are needed, SIMS/Nova schools can opt for 'Multi-Timetable' allowing bespoke overlapping timetable cycles and Lesson Monitor attendance variations.
