Hi,

Is anyone else experiencing freezing issues when using Adobe Reader DC on Windows 10 1903? We have several users reporting it. It's difficult to replicate but we have many users reporting it. Adobe Reader DC just locks up, and crashes. Event Viewer isn't particularly helpful.

If you also have SmartNotebook installed, it is this causing the issue.

Post back if you do and I will post the fix

Would be interested in the fix. We have users with smart notebook and without smart notebook experiencing the issue.

We are running the latest adobe reader dc but are seeing the issue with previous versions too

This will fix the SmartNotebook issue

Open Acrobat Reader DC

Go to Edit Preferences

Go to "Security (Enhanced)"Uncheck the box called "Run in AppContainer"

Restart Acrobat

Another fix for a few issues is

Open Acrobat Reader

Click Edit > Preferences > General >

untick Show Online storage when opening files

untick Show Online storage when saving files

finally tick Use only certified plug-ins

I had the same issue with SMART Notebook causing Adobe Reader to be slow and @TwistedHelixis 's fix is correct.

It can be deployed out via GPO too:

Computer Configuration > Preferences > Registry

Action: Update

Hive: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE

Key Path: SOFTWARE\WOW6432Node\Policies\Adobe\Acrobat Reader\DC\FeatureLockDown

Value name: bEnableProtectedModeAppContainer

Value type: REG_DWORD

Value data: 00000000 (change to 00000001 to enable it again)
