AD and GSuite Groups in a MAT

I think i already know the answer to this but i want to be proved wrong.

 

This kinda carries on from another thread i created about moving to GSuite in a MAT.

 

I have got our OUs and users syncing to a sub domain OU in Gsuite via GCDS however i want to see if it's possible to sync some of our Groups in AD to GROUPS in the MAT GSuite however when i run a Simulation Sync from our AD to GSuite, i see that it will remove all the created Groups already on the MAT Gsuite.

 

Is there not a way for GCDS or Gsuite to keep the existing groups in GSuite and let GCDS add our AD groups to Gsuite?

You can add all your existing groups as groups in AD, with the same email addresses, and it *should* link them together and keep them all.

Hmmm, i'm trying to do that but it says it will take out all the already created groups in there and create my groups.

I think the exclusion rules area for GROUPS in GCDS is only excluding content from the sync'd AD not what's on GSuite at the moment otherwise it would would however i dunno what is required in the exclusion rules to prevent GCDS from deleting groups that are already setup on GSuite.

 

I'm not wanting to create and manage all the mailing groups within GSuite if i can help it but instead manage then via AD. This is only the case for Mailing groups.

Update: I think i've found it. Under the Google Domain Configurator Tab > Exclusion Rules tab i've added:

 

Type: Group Email Address

Match Type: Regular Expression

Exclusion Rule: MAT.uk

 

I think i just need to configure the rule now.
