Wireless sollutions reccomendations to replace cisco Meraki setup.

I currently have a selection of Meru wifi access points on one of my schools and a Cisco Meraki setup on the other school. THe Meraki stuff is costing us a lot in licensing and I'd rather have something like the Meru kit that is a one off payment.

 

I'm going to be merging the two schools after Christmas so theyll all be on the same network.

 

Can anyone recommend some access points which could replace the Cisco Meraki gear and that could potentially work alongside the Meru access points.

In a small infant like that, I'd say so and would definitely recommend them

I know cloud controllers are useful to some but frankly with the Meraki CLoud setup we currently have I hardly ever use it.

 

I think the Unifi route looks promising.

Why does he want a cloud controller he's a primary school? However he could easily host his Unifi controller online for free and therefore in the cloud - plenty of instructions on Google for how to do just that. In addition some resellers will host a controller online for free too.

 

Unifi offer free support over email or chat - plus they're so much cheaper he can afford to buy spares and keep them on a shelf.

Another vote for Unifi!

 

Replaced our old Xirrus system with them a couple of years ago and haven't looked back. We've got 25+ of them now with most of them being AP-AC-Pro with an AP-AC-Lite sprinkled here and there.

Another vote for Unifi here too, although i've found the AC-Pros to be more reliable than the Nano HDs here.

How good are they in high density deployments. ive been toying with unifi and really like it.... were starting to have teething pains in one of our schools where they are 121.

 

Block with about 240 devices spread across 8 or so aruba IAP 115s if i remember right. our air play receivers are starting to be abit flakey - though i intend to cable them in over half term as the ipads so i am told work fine!

The project took a little longer than expected with the whole lockdown situation..... However...

 

I decided to go for Ubiquiti Unifi Pro Access Points and have to say they are brilliant. I decided to get a Unifi Key just becuase I didnt want the software installed on a machine and the whole system is really easy to use and functions great.

Really reccomend the Ubiquiti AP's.

They're great aren't they, we replaced a HP system (pre-Aruba) with them, got 106 Unifi APs and the daily complaints from the HP kit dropped to zero when we switched over.
