Adobe Creative Suite - Different Licence

Has anyone here taken their Adobe Creative Suite over to the new licensing structure - that is Named User licensing rather than Device?

 

Any issues? What do you authenticate against?

Yes.

No issues thus far, only moved over in summer. Apart from users not understanding they need to put in their school email address to login and not stopping the redirection to the ms login page. We authenticate against azure.

 

Setup takes about 45 minutes, but their instructions aren’t the best. Even though it authenticates with azure, they require a python script to sync users from your local active directory. Also the licensing can be assigned to groups which is fine but the groups are limited to 999 users, so we have had to assign permissions to year groups instead as over 1000 students.

 

Unless you want all your users to receive a welcome email, I recommend turning off the welcome email in the adobe admin console before adding your user groups.

I wasn't aware of the group limit. I've done the same setup but our SSO just requires the user to enter our domain name. Just make sure you setup some notifications about certificates expiring. Ideally you want the Shared Device Licensing rather than named.

I moved over to Shared Device Licences a couple of weeks ago, using Adobe's new Azure Connector. Quick and painless to set up following their guide. I was looking to do it over the summer, but the old way looked stupidly over complicated so I waited. Glad I did now!

Yes, it’s their user sync tool which took a bit of search for. I will post the link tomorrow when I am back in the office.

I wish the Azure connector existed a year ago.

Looks much easier than the sync tool and no on prem server required.
