It is so much more customisable. You can pretty much do as you please with it. It is especially handy when you want to have different users use different tools for certain extensions. Try it out, it really couldn't be any more simpler than just following the guide.

Can someone help me with SetUserFTA please. I'm trying to set it as a logon script as per the website instructions but I'm just not getting it.

The guidance is not so clear, change your script parameters to just be the name of the text file. so not .txt txtfile "filename.txt" but just "filename.txt"

It's still not applying. I don't know if it's because I've enabled Windows Photo Viewer and am trying to associate file extensions with that or if the content of my text file is in the wrong format.

If you are using a config file then the script parameters should just be the path to the text file. e.g.

 

\\YourDomain\Share\fileconfig.txt

My mistake, I meant to put the full path in there. What can I say, busy day!

It's still not applying. I don't know if it's because I've enabled Windows Photo Viewer and am trying to associate file extensions with that or if the content of my text file is in the wrong format.

I did have a stage where whatever I tried did not apply, in the end I think it was down to the script running before the user profile had finished creating, I had to run a 'timeout /t 15 /nobreak' before the SetUserFTA script.

 

Although I think I may have solved that by disabling the GPO 'Configure Logon Script Delay' which by default is five minutes before running scrips following logon. It's that long ago since I made the change I can't remember now.
