We have GIMP and Photoshop installed on machines around school, some machines only have GIMP on them but we have run into an issue that is when we set Photoshop as the default app for .PSD files and export the default applications list to XML, the .psd entry disappears. This is the case if we set Photoshop to anything, the extension is removed from the xml list.

So my question is, does anyone know what to put in the for this to work?

We have tried importing an XML with the string as posted but this hasn't worked.

Setting GIMP as the default PSD application shows .psd and GIMP in the exported default applications list.

Found out what the Application Identifier needs to be for each version of photoshop if anyone encounters the same issue:

ProgID="PhotoshopElements.PSDFile.11" depends on the version of photoshop installed on the machine. As we have different versions of photoshop, we have a couple of these single XML files.

You can have just an XML to run on each machine in addition to the domain XML just as long as the domain one doesn't reference a different progid, if that makes sense. It would appear that once set, it doesn't need running again until the machine is re-imaged.
