O365. Power User App?

Is there such a thing as a power user app for O365?

 

I'm trying to add lots of licenses, which I can do with the GUI, but it only allows you to add 100 at a time. Once you've added them it resets the view. (Microsoft are sadists, right?)

 

It would seem there's a market for something that can cache this view and carry out more powerful operations and filtering.

 

(Yep, I know I could use PowerShell, I'd just rather have a decent GUI)

No PowerShell is the way forward with this, how do you manage when MS gives kazala to all your users? Please tell me that you are not sitting in front of the portal managing licences for anything more than 10 users (even then I would script)

 

Sorry I know that might not be the answer you looking for but it's the best I have. Scripting means that you could do stuff like have AD/ AAD groups for licensed apps and users added to the group will get the app added/ removed based on group membership.

It's pretty rare that I need to do anything like this - in this instance, adding Office ProPlus licenses which differ between student and faculty - so the time to code this in PowerShell would be wasted for me. It's just a shame the GUI is so poor, although it's better than it was.

The main problem is that there's nothing really to differentiate students from staff, so at the next new student import I will prefix display names with graduation year.

We could even solve that issue fairly quickly with PS an all

Set up Licence groups in Azure AD. There's even a gui for this. Add and remove members from the groups with a script. Or a gui if you prefer.

Does the Azure GUI refresh the user list every time a change two two or more users is made?

(We don't use Azure, because we sync AD via the RM Unify AD sync app, although I know it's there in the background and can be accessed)

Pretty sure I sync with AD Connect and assign licences automatically via groups

Not sure if the RM Unify sync tool will upload security groups, but I can check with them.

Hi there,

You can use RM Unify Group Sync which takes MIS groups and provisions them into O365 as O365 Groups. The only O365 security groups we create are those from RM Unify based off the Roles such as Student, Teaching Staff etc. Check out this article for more info: https://support.rm.com/technicalarticle.asp?cref=tec5285553
