We have a plethora of works happening this summer and one upshot is a likely loss of power to the building our internet inhabits for a week. Now, the nearest other source of power is around 120m, so extension cables are out of the question for mains but we're thinking if we can decant a core switch and the NTE fiber termination equipment to where that mains is and extend our fiber link as well as openreaches' fiber link, we'll still have internet for our other building.

The question is thus; the line that comes into the building and provides a single fiber with a pigtail terminating in a single SC connector plugs into the NTE. It's this we'd need to extend but the markings on the cable are illegible. Does anyone know what that fiber is likely to be, and whether that'll be OK to extend that length? Not worried about drop in speeds, just need some sort of internet! :)

Done a similar thing when a core cab was relocated, far cheaper than getting the incoming BT fibre moved.

Incoming BT Fibre (ST) > ST/ST Adapter > ST/LC patch cable > Cab 1 Patch Panel > Cab 2 Patch Panel > LC/LC patch cable > NTE

Just used single mode cable and works a treat on our 100/100 leased line.

It may be doable, but I understand it's a no-no.

Our fibre comes in to a remote building, where the NTE is. We have an internal fibre from there to the main cab. When we had a line changeover, we were told that there was no way to extend the Openreach fibre from the incoming point over our own fibre and if we wanted to get the NTE into the main cab, we'd have to pay Openreach to extend it. Apparently they do not allow the use of private fibre with their equipment. Also, as far as I know the NTE belongs to Openreach and I doubt they would be happy about you moving it.
