RM CC4 training?

Is there CC4 training that someone could recommend?

You would be best approaching RM and if you play your cards right they might give you some advice/training for free in the hope you buy more products and services from them.

When I started with a school using CC4, I didn't get much training either. Apart from a 45x min session I've largely had to figure it out myself. I've had a bit of help in how to use it when I asked them how to do certain things, but not much.

 

Considering we're a school contracted to RM and the CC4 is a set of propriety tools to them, that surprised me - the lack of willingness to train IT staff.

In this day and age I wouldn't bother; would be rather like being trained in Windows XP. If the school has a valid support contract, there are plenty of resources on their site and as mentioned already RM should be happy to provide some level of training at low or nil cost. CC4's days have been numbered for many a year though; you'll be far better off with windows server/network training as it still applies to CC4 systems anyway.

If you understand how native AD, OUs, GPOs etc work you can understand CC4. I've only been using it myself for 9x months and for the most part had to figure it out myself.

There are few random issues that drive me crazy. Google chrome disappeared from users desktops. It is installed and i ca see it in shortcuts but yet no one can access it. I also have issue with a user where i get error - "Your roaming user profile was not completely synchronized. See the event log for details or contact administration." User can't access outlook and their desktop dose not follow.

 

There are few more. I learn as i go but it really frustrates me that i can't solve problems.

 

There are plans to move to vanilla network so I know I should be learning this instead CC4, not knowing CC4 stops me doing my job.

Yes of course it is all very similar and I am using basic functions like creating users, changing passwords, installing programs and so on. There are parts of the program that if someone wont show you, you wont know where to look for it. I've been here for 3 weeks now and it feels lie I'm going backwards.

 

Its frustrating that's all.

Where abouts are you based? It sounds like you have a mix of CC4 and other problems.

I'm In London, Barking. We have support company but i only see them once a week and not every email get answered. IT person before me was much more knowledgeable so they are not used to (or its not in their contract) so many questions.

I think just using it is the best method, I used it for three years till someone offered me a training course on it, I attended it utterly pointless waste of money by the school.

 

With a lot of things you'll make out the little tips and tricks that aren't in the books etc
