ictgoodpractice Posted June 14, 2019 Posted June 14, 2019 Anyone using other back up and restore apart from the built in Back up. Are there better alternatives or most on win Server back up for files etc. Thanks for any replies
fredbayker Posted June 15, 2019 Posted June 15, 2019 Windows server backup is too basic/restrictive when it comes to scheduling. As a free option it’s ok but I would rather use the community edition of veeam if I was looking for free alternatives
ictgoodpractice Posted June 15, 2019 Author Posted June 15, 2019 Thanks, I have read lots of positives on that too. Mine is just a single physical server, but need to research it. Can you do multiple schedules. Ie a full back up for restoring entire server - say once a week or whatever, and back up daily incrementally?
3s-gtech Posted June 15, 2019 Posted June 15, 2019 You can overcome some of the scheduling limitations of Windows Server Backup by using Scheduled Tasks along with the command line - much more flexible.

The only thing I think you can’t do is manage the jobs from a remote backup proxy.
