Recording of students leaving school during the school day- how do you do it?

Afternoon all,

 

We use a package called Inventry for visitors to school and in general its excellent at this task.

It also allows students to “sign in” when they are late via a touch screen. It then has the ability to write these “late marks” back into the SIMS attendance.

 

It has a function to also allow students to sigh out during the school day and receive a “printed pass” if they are challenged whilst out of school.

 

However, whilst it records the sign out information within the software program, it cannot write it back into SIMS as there is nowhere that SIMS could record/display this data.

 

We are interested in how schools manage this process?

 

• Do you do this manually?

• Have you bits of paper everywhere?

• Do your students have to sign out? And if not how do you track who is in/out of school at any one time?

• If your students sign out, how do they do this?

• Can they sign out at more than one location?

• Does the system/process your use work reliably?

We use InVentry.

 

Early leaving students are only recorded for fire purposes and in the event of a fire, we leave the building with the evac tablets it's the sole responsibility of one person to inform each class about pupils who are known absent.

So there's no record other than in InVentry that a student has left the premises?

I guess this is the crux of the request, SLT want it recorded in SIMS and there is no area that deals with students not being in school at any particular time.....only AM/PM registration....

We have a member of staff in the office that checks and marks the lesson monitor (lesson mark) with a note. That is all we do for marking in SIMS.

Exactly this... There is nowhere in Integris either and we were manually striking students off the printed fire (as in, with a pencil and a ruler, manually) lists when they left early.
