Can anybody recommend a simple reliable way to move Whatsapp messages from an iPhone to a new Samsung s10?

As far as I can see that article only explains how to transfer using google drive from one Android to another. This is straight forwards and works well.

 

The problem is that the iOS version of whatsapp will only backup to icloud, and the Android version will only restore when installing from a google drive backup. There seems to be no obvious way of transferring the message and attachment data between the two.

I have seen that site ... it's either out of date or just plain wrong !! ... when installing whatsapp on android it will only look at the google drive to see if a backup exists.

Seems amazingly difficult! I came across this, but don't use an iPhone or WhatsApp, so can't vouch for any of the methods!

I've tried a few times (temp phones etc) and everytime I have given up and not bothered, couldn't find a way to get it to work.
