gumbygaz Posted May 21, 2019 Posted May 21, 2019 Just looking around a different Offsite backup options and found https://backupintelligence.com/uk-pricing-plans/ (CeeJay Software) which seems very cheap. Almost too cheap, unless I'm missing something? Messaged them and they'll backup servers for £7.50 pm unlimited data per server. Just wondering if anybody has used them. A search in edugeek brings up posts from 4/5 years ago so nothing recent regarding them. Thanks,
gumbygaz Posted May 21, 2019 Author Posted May 21, 2019 hummm, client software from the help guide looks pretty basic and more geared up for Businesses backing up NAS drives etc.
computer_expert Posted May 31, 2019 Posted May 31, 2019 We switched from crashplan (resold via ceejay) to backup intellegence when crashplan pulled the plug on server backups. The client is much better than the java rubbish that crashplan used. I only use it to take file backups on our 2 file servers and it works well for this purpose but I think i remember seeing that it can do MSSQL backups (as well as other things) too
bwestlake Posted May 31, 2019 Posted May 31, 2019 I used to love crashplan, had their family bundle personally and also had it on my microserver so could backup to the ‘cloud’ and my house Used it at my last place as an offsite data backup, didn’t have any complaints... any issues called through and was fixed Always have a proper VM/Server backup in place too though
Danp Posted June 3, 2019 Posted June 3, 2019 Thanks. I'm tempted to try it to backup a server backup as a trial
gumbygaz Posted June 3, 2019 Author Posted June 3, 2019 Sorry, half term etc got in the way of looking into it further. Was put off with the simplistic nature of the software - but think for the money it'll be worth a go as a trial. Already got on site backups in 2 buildings. Just wanting that little more resilience off site and seemed very reasonable.
Uber22 Posted June 9, 2019 Posted June 9, 2019 I have been testing any.cloud with veeam backup and replication but my Frist back was on 18 hours and only had done around 12% of 3tb of data. I had to stop it in the end as it was effecting the speed of web browsing.
Uber22 Posted June 10, 2019 Posted June 10, 2019 Yes I set it off at 5.00 before I left. Think it's maybe our connection because we can only get 80/20 fttc here not that great. Were having a dedicated line installed in July 100/100 just got data so I hope this will help.
mavhc Posted June 10, 2019 Posted June 10, 2019 Yeah, need to be able to pause it at 8am the next day, and resume again at 5pm. I had 100/100 installed as we're on 2 sites, so just backup to the other site.
DrCheese Posted June 10, 2019 Posted June 10, 2019 I've got a trial of Veeam 365 installed at the moment but finding it incredibly slow. I set it going on Friday evening and it's only done 575gb worth over the weekend....
