TwistedHelixis Posted May 10, 2019 Posted May 10, 2019 A school I recently took over has SmartNotebook 11 installed. They have purchased a new site licence so I want to remove V11 before installing the new software. I remember from years ago that it was not a good idea to uninstall V11 using Windows built in add / uninstall page, as it does not fully uninstall everything, but I cant find the SMART uninstaller software on the laptops. The uninstall software should be in In... (Windows 7), select Start > All Programs > SMART Technologies > SMART Tools > SMART Uninstaller. Any thoughts how I can cleanly remove all the old SMART software and drivers?
ChrisMiles Posted May 10, 2019 Posted May 10, 2019 Maybe not helpful but my experience is the new SMART installer will sort it out itself, you can just install over the top. 1
ShellfishClive Posted May 10, 2019 Posted May 10, 2019 Chris is right, you don't actually need to uninstall. I've personally never had an issue with using Control Panel to uninstall, then CCleaner to clean the reg and just manually deleting the C:\Progams folder bit of a faf but you only have to do it once. 1
Rob_D Posted May 10, 2019 Posted May 10, 2019 Smart have a special Cleanup utility for getting rid of old notebook installs http://downloads.smarttech.com/techsupport/k1fi2rh8stf3eja6kjs1sdl0wa/smartcleanup-v3.2.1.0.zip 1
Koldov Posted May 10, 2019 Posted May 10, 2019 Have you searched for the uninstaller? Windows 10 here, but it might be in the same place? 1
atcoates Posted May 10, 2019 Posted May 10, 2019 I've installed and uninstalled it 100s of time and never seen an issue. You can set a new version to uninstall the old. http://downloads.smarttech.com/media/sitecore/en/support/product/smartnotebook/notebook18/guides/notebooksawinguide21nov18.pdf
TwistedHelixis Posted May 10, 2019 Author Posted May 10, 2019 Thanks everyone :0) Installing over the top was fine 1
