Device Problems In XP

Hay All,

 

I have a Dell Inspiron 2600 here that has a Cisco Wireless network card in the PCMCIA slot at the moment but its not working.

 

Device manager is kicking out the following error:

 

This device cannot find enough free resources that it can use. (Code 12)

If you want to use this device, you will need to disable one of the other devices on this system.

 

 

Looking for conflicts and i can't see any. Go to change the resources and i can't because it says exactly the same message in the tab. Tried disabling a few devices and rebooting still no luck

 

Had a look aroud Google etc but still no joy

 

I know this works because we have 120 others that are ok.

 

Anyone got any ideas?

P.S I should note that they are XP PRO SP2 With the latest Cisco drivers.

Have you tried another card in the PC or the card in another PC?

BIOS update shouldn't be needed, Tried the card in another machine and its ok. Just taken the HDD out of the laptop and put it in the exact same model. Seems to work okay so i think im going to put this one down to a dead PCMCIA slot (Even though the card lights up) i have just been informed that the staff member had dropped the laptop so this may well be the reason why...

 

Its always those little details like 'Oh i forgot to mention i did drop it'

Can you disable devices in the BIOS - could that be the difference/ problem?

Here is a hot fix from ms regarding a different pcmcia card ( most likely you will either need a different fix or to establish how to fix the issue with regards to what the article describes or something similiar ( obviously )
