Dos_Box Posted May 20, 2019 Author Posted May 20, 2019 As I mentioned last week, I have to get the catering order in today for those with special dietary requirements/allergies etc. So if you want to come and are allergic to cake, please get your ticket now as I'll be firing these off to the venue about 3pm. We only have a few left and you can grab your free ticket from HERE.
DJ-1701 Posted May 20, 2019 Posted May 20, 2019 you know I'm veggie, right? Makes sense after years of turning people into creatures. 1
Dos_Box Posted May 20, 2019 Author Posted May 20, 2019 Now would be a good time to bring up the subject of the picnic on Wednesday (the 29th) afternoon. AFAIK, this will be an ad-hoc affair and starting around 16:00 in the cathedral grounds, although if you want to come earlier please feel free. If you want to park your car in the school car park for this you are more than welcome. I know these have been held before, so if past picnickers want to let everyone know where in the grounds it has been in the past (they are big grounds after all), it would be very helpful. This is open to both attendees and exhibitors and the long range forecast currently shows the weather to be good. Please bring your own food and drinks.
ICTDirect_Dave Posted May 20, 2019 Posted May 20, 2019 It's also a great time to bring up the football isn't it @bald_pig? With the small matter of the Europa league final on the night of the 29th, where might a forum sponsor and anybody else who might be interested in the result go to watch the game?
AJWhite1970 Posted May 20, 2019 Posted May 20, 2019 Re Football - I'll double check but I'm sure there are a few places in town that will have it on Re Picnic. Two options. Option 1 is in the cathedral grounds but, and here is the but, the cathedral grounds are strictly alcohol free so if we picnic there, soft drinks only. Option 2 is in the school grounds on the Head Masters lawn (where we held the last EduSocial) where as long as no-one trashes the place or annoys the neighbours (average age 120..) we'll turn a blind eye to the odd glass of wine with the cheese board. Either find by me, I have the keys to the back gate 4
bald_pig Posted May 20, 2019 Posted May 20, 2019 (edited) When you say drink, what kind of refreshing beverages may we quaff during this picnic? *EDIT* and that's what I get for not hitting refresh! I'd like the alcohol option please! Edited May 20, 2019 by bald_pig
AJWhite1970 Posted May 20, 2019 Posted May 20, 2019 Just done a quick ring-round for the football. Best bet is the GreyFisher which is 5 mins walk from here. (used to be a Hungry Horse but just been taken over and renovated by Greene King). They are expecting to be busy and suggest booking a table in the bar area although there are several screens https://www.greeneking-pubs.co.uk/pubs/wiltshire/greyfisher/menu/main-menu There are a couple of other pubs in town showing it, but you will need to ignore the sawdust on the floor. Sadly for some, the vodka bar isn't showing it 1

I'll be honest, I hadn't realised it was the same day yet!
DalekSec Posted May 20, 2019 Posted May 20, 2019 I might pop over and join you for the football, ( I will be supporting Chelsea FYI as i have Chelsea fans in the family)
ICTDirect_Dave Posted May 20, 2019 Posted May 20, 2019 I'll be honest, I hadn't realised it was the same day yet! I hadn't considered it an issue until I realised we were going to be picnicking rather than pubbing! I might pop over and join you for the football, ( I will be supporting Chelsea FYI as i have Chelsea fans in the family) You're most welcome. It'll be nice to have someone to shout at if Arsenal lose!
AJWhite1970 Posted May 20, 2019 Posted May 20, 2019 Just for @ICTDirect_Dave a map of where to crawl from to before/after the football... 1
ICTDirect_Dave Posted May 20, 2019 Posted May 20, 2019 I'll find my way. If the weather is nice, I might just camp on your playing fields

DJ-1701 Posted May 21, 2019 Posted May 21, 2019 The most important question... will there be any dogs?
Katy Posted May 21, 2019 Posted May 21, 2019 The most important question... will there be any dogs? I didn't think I had to put "dogs" down on the food allergy list? Hopefully they will be clearly labelled.
