londonbg Posted March 12, 2019 Posted March 12, 2019 (edited) We're thinking of moving away from SIMS What would be the best way of accessing historical data (past students and teachers etc) that we don't bring across to a new system? Does SIMS stop working when a subscription ends? Assuming we can't use the SIMS.net app/server is there simple way of exporting ALL data to a CSV for future use if the historical data ever needs returning to? Edited March 12, 2019 by londonbg
PhilNeal Posted March 12, 2019 Posted March 12, 2019 SIMS has a perpetual licence so it can still be used.
Greg Posted March 13, 2019 Posted March 13, 2019 SIMS has a perpetual licence so it can still be used. As long as you can still access it as you can't still upgrade SIMS post support contract - Phil, feel free to correct, this is what we have always been told You'd need to ensure that it is on a version of SQL/Windows/Office that works with that SIMS version - perhaps a VM that can be accessed when needed
PhilNeal Posted March 13, 2019 Posted March 13, 2019 Yes that’s right. There’s one thing to determine and that is if you own the licence in which no problem. If your LA owns the licence they can decide.
