Failed raid drive.

I have a server in which one of the dives has failed and needs swapping out. The raid card is an LSI MegaRaid SAS 9260-8i. Available storage shows as 1.63TB with four 600GB disks so I assume it’s raid 5.

 

I’ve never had to do this before and searching the web has not helped. When the drive is swapped out will the new drive just start rebuilding or will it have to be configured. The server is ESXi so anything would have to be done in the webbios. If changes have to be made could someone point me to a step by step guide.

Do check your backups - they are fairly big drives for a raid 5 array (unless they are ssds) and there is a chance the rebuild process will fail and you will lose everything. Performance will also be poor while it is rebuilding, which will take a while.
