Hi,

We've used EASeUS data recovery software over the last couple of years and has proved pretty effective in recovering files on corrupted external drives etc. (usually when students haven't saved things where they should have).

I currently have a 2 TB hard drive which was corrupted or damaged i.e. just plugging in via USB/directly doesn't show or get recognised as a drive. I've been asked to try and retrieve what I can.

I've removed the drive from it's enclosure and plugged the faulty drive into a hard drive cloner and the lights on the cloner indicate that accesses via the EaseUS software are happening. I've had the EaseUS software "deep scanning" for around 24 hrs but so far nothing has been retrieved but continues to display a message "deep scanning" .According to their website, as long as the memory for the process in task manager is varying (which it is) , the software hasn't hung but I'm wondering how long I leave it or is there an alternative.

Any ideas on how to find out what it's doing if anything?

Cheers

Chris
