Well, the phone arrived yesterday The only problem is that I can't find a way to access the phone numbers held on the SIM card!

Any help?

Have you tried going into the contacts section, clicking menu and looking for SIM Manager. Not sure if it is included on the hps but I ahve it on my HTC.

Nope, not there I have looked for Sim Manager to noi avail.

It may have something to do with the ROM version:

today I updated the system rom on my ipaq 514 vm to the 2.05.00 10 Jan 2008 version. Everything went fine, except one thing: when I go into contacts, it's empty. The show sim contacts option in the settings is set to "on" as always, it just doesn't show any. Then if I want to add a contact to the sim, it doesn't to anything (i.e. like I never wouldv've pushed the button), but I can create new outlook contacts without problems.

I'd appreciate any advices, because I've ran out of ideas and I need my contact list.

 

May need a firmware upgrade or that option checked.

Odd...mine is using:

 

ROM Date: 11/21/07

ROM Revision: 2.05.00_WWE

 

and I've had no problem. Most of my contacts were sim based..it nuked the phone ones on reinstall.

 

All I did was a straight "plug into USB, run ROM update, let phone reboot"..didn't even remove the SIM. That said, on the original ROM it was just a case of "bung SIM in and fire up".

 

Just been looking at mother-in-laws latest ebay purchase..for £28ish, a Blackberry. Interesting unit.

Removed batt + SIM card for 3 mins and then put everything back. All is well now

A cracking phone for bugger all money.

Glad you like the phone, I'm enjoying mine, and will be even better once I get the Push Mail sorted for work again (mutters about various annoyances beyond my control)

Did you go for the magnetic close case as well? I like that..

 

I wish I could find a screen protector for it though..I already have a tiny, tiny scratch...annoying.

What a silly thing to do, why on earth would you want to do such a thing hehe (I know you didnt really) Must admit mines got a graze on an edge already, will have to get it a case sorted of some form...

My phone got dropped off a bench outside the pub a few weeks back (ok it's not an iPAQ...but it was expensive)....luckily it got nicked from the swimming baths last week (unluckily with my wallet and keys, dry clothes and a pair of glasses).

 

I've got a nice new scratch free one on insurance now

Thats not a bad idea, we could do a phone review blog or thread for each of our different phones. I'm sure that there are plenty of different types of smartphone floating around the forum.
