I have been asked to make sure nobody can alter our Google Maps data

The school want to make sure that nobody can edit our data on Google Maps, but when I click 'claim this business' I just get

 

We are sorry, but you do not have access to this service. Please log in to admin.google.com to enable services.

 

We are a G Suite school, which service is the message referring to?

 

If I leave the service switched off, will anyone trying to 'claim this business' just get the same message? If so should I just leave it off as nobody can claim it.

Just so you are aware, even claiming does not make it uneditable. Over Christmas a suggestion was made to our School name, in Bulgarian, that was meant to need our confirmation but seem to get allowed and our YouTube Channel changed for ages!

Sounds like someone read the news story about a child renaming their school on google.

 

Enable Google My Business as above. Then go through the process of claiming it using a schools g suite account. You get the option for a call with a PIN for authorisation. However google chooses the number, and it isn't always the schools main number! Google wanted to use the nursery school nearby for one and another was the LA children's services! Luckily the option to to have the PIN mailed did go to the school(s) addresses
