Papercut MFD - authentication error on a copier

Hi all,

 

Very strange intermittent issue that’s driving me mad.

 

We use Miifare card for authentication, Papercut 18.4.2, Konica Minolta Bizhub 554e

 

Happens intermittently on certain users, randomly on copiers, but this particular one is happening constantly to different users, now including me!

 

So, you send a print job to virtual queue

Go to that problematic copier

Present your card

Then it throws an authentication error

You try logging in with your AD credentials and still throws authentication error.

Another user comes along, perfectly fine logging in.

Your card by the way works perfectly on other copiers.

I then try to assign a new card to my AD account.

The problematic copier throws up error in authentication

Now after maybe a day or two or even hour later your card works on the copier again!

A power cycle does not clear this issue either

 

I can’t see a pattern to this at all, haven’t tried a firmware update yet though .. might ask my supplier to do this..

 

The maddening thing is according to logs of that pesky copier on Papercut .. my user account authenticated perfectly fine on the copier ... yet the MFD panel said otherwise ...
