Encrypt the files using 7 Zip and email the recipient - Dose is Comply with GDPR

Hi

 

One of the staff have asked to as how to send files electronically.With GDPR in place is there a way that we can send file as an attachment in a secure manner?Can i use 7 ZIp and encrypt and email or is these any way to send through 0365 account and does it comply with GDPR

You get Azure Rights Management as part of Office 365 A1 now. I setup a mail rule with a keyword on it like "ENCRYPT" for example that will encrypt the message. Pop the word anywhere in the message and the message will be sent encrypted.

We use Azure Rights Management in a similar manner to @tmoon-mint.

 

We have had a few suppliers say "we're not allowed to click on things like that" when they get the "Pete has sent you an encrypted message" dialogue. It tends to be more regulated (finance) industries or suppliers with archaic email systems.

 

Those suppliers are (IME) equally unlikely to be able to handle/receive encrypted zip files via email, so...

I'd say yes, that seems to comply so long as you use some other method, e.g. phone call or text message to tell the person at the other end what the passphrase is.
