pbad Posted January 17, 2019 Posted January 17, 2019 (edited) The Head wants me to remove the Google Reviews that disgruntled current students/former students are leaving. Does anybody have any ideas on how I should proceed with this? Edited January 17, 2019 by pbad
hardtailstar Posted January 17, 2019 Posted January 17, 2019 All you can do is contact Google, if they dont remove them, then you cant do anything. We get this request at least once a year. Same answer each time 1
AJWhite1970 Posted January 17, 2019 Posted January 17, 2019 Other than reporting the review to Google who will then ignore your request there is nothing you can do. Trust me, we've tried...
pbad Posted January 17, 2019 Author Posted January 17, 2019 I passed this request to the our social media marketing person as I thought they would have more expertise with this. I was then told by the Head to deal with it as I'm in charge of IT.
Meldrew Posted January 17, 2019 Posted January 17, 2019 Same issue here. Just having to live with it, basically. Meldrew
elsiegee40 Posted January 17, 2019 Posted January 17, 2019 Same experience for us. You can't do anything about it unfortunately.
fiza Posted January 17, 2019 Posted January 17, 2019 What you could do is ask some of your more trusted Alumni to post reviews. This will push down the negative reviews.

This ^ Like you all, I've been asked this and gotten very little out of using the report feature (although I have gotten some removed). The best thing you can do is just get your students to leave a review as a matter of course. Over time, a couple of bad reviews won't matter.
jthompson Posted January 18, 2019 Posted January 18, 2019 It's certainly annoying that organisations and businesses can't de-list themselves from Google's places directory. It's one thing not being able to take a pin out of a commercial mapping service, but another thing altogether to not be able to opt out of publicly visible reviews. 1
FishCustard Posted January 18, 2019 Posted January 18, 2019 It's certainly annoying that organisations and businesses can't de-list themselves from Google's places directory. It's one thing not being able to take a pin out of a commercial mapping service, but another thing altogether to not be able to opt out of publicly visible reviews. There is absolutely no reason for non-commercial entities to be reviewable at all on things like Google Maps. Things like schools, hospitals, government entities, etc. There are appropriate places to 'review' such places, and a directory isn't one of them!
