PrimaryNetMan Posted January 7, 2019 Posted January 7, 2019 Happy New Year everyone. Quick background information. The school I support has recently become part of a new MAT. Trust consists of 2 schools, MAT lead school and ours. Each school has its own LAN and Local SIMS server. Connectivity via Schools Broadband. Have just returned after the Christmas break to find out the Trust has created a central finance and personnel office at our site with new central staff. These central staff will need access to SIMS at each site. Everything else is either web based of G Suite so don't want to go the route of creating a single network at this stage for the 4 staff who need access. So any suggestions? Want to keep it as simple as possible. Thanks in advance.
Esteban_Child_of_the_Sun Posted January 7, 2019 Posted January 7, 2019 We use TeamViewer to create ad hoc VPNs to remote servers for the purpose of running SIMS locally with a modified connect.ini allowing for school selection. Something like that could work (Other VPN options would work equally well) 1
Atomic_Zombie Posted January 7, 2019 Posted January 7, 2019 As Esteban said, a VPN would work best. you could set up a site-to-site VPN, allowing this and any other services in the future to be shared between the sites while keeping them separate.
