Hi All

So a strange thing is going on with a new file server I've created. I have attached the Security permissions on the folder itself just in case I've set something wrong.

This particular user is in the Finance Security Group on AD and that is added to the folder with "Full Control" ticked as is "IT Security Group" which has me in it on AD.

The user can open the folder just fine without issue but if they try to move a document into it, rename a current file or delete a file it tells them that they don't have permissions and need Admin rights?

What on earth is going on?? If someone could help I'd really appreciate it!

Thanks :)

Check the permissions of the share as well (Sharing -> Advanced sharing -> Permissions). If the ACL there is just 'Read', that would explain what you're seeing.

Is it worth setting the share setting to just 'everyone' & 'full control' and removing the explicit share permissions you have currently - with the right NTFS perms in place the share permissions being wide open shouldn't matter much and removes something that could be causing the issue? If only temporarily for testing?

Also you didn't show the permissions for the 2 groups in your OP just the system account, throw those up so we can have a look?

Ok so here are the permissions I missed sorry. I have removed all permissions and just set to Everyone with Full control but still exactly the same? What on earth is going on! :(

And you are browsing to "\\servername\Purchase Order Requests"? Not "\\servername\Finance" and then double clicking on the Purchase Order Requests folder?

Tried both instances both come back with the same result :(

What does Effective Permissions say if you put in the username of whoever can't edit the files? (one of the tabs in advanced security)

Are you using offline files? I have had a similar issue in the past.
