Hikvision iDS-9632nxi-16s - Anyone got one?

So we're reluctantly in the market for a new CCTV box and one of the things we've come across is the Hikvision iDS-9632nxi-16s.

 

The blurb (linked below) hints that it can apparently take video/a still of a person / persons face and find that person/face in other footage.

 

This intrigues me, and would be useful, but I'm terribly cynical and wonder if anyone's got one and can give an idea how reliable it is?

Just looked at my Hikvision DS-7608 just noticed mine has a smart event for face detection and appears to be able to do the same. I've enabled it and will see what I get off it.

We have two HikVision NVRs:

 

 

These can, apparently, service face detection and numberplate recognition, but as there was no interest here our cameras do not support either function:

ANPR is an extra add on I believe, also mine didn't used to support the facial bits till I recently upgraded the firmware thinking about it.

School down the road has put in a 32 and a 64 version of these and I was very impressed - in a totally different league to previous smakker hikvision boxes in terms of the interface.

 

I am looking to get one myself now as our old little tiny hikvision dvr is on it's last legs and needs frequent reboots.

Our CCTV installer sourced everything. I don't know who he used.

So, the Hikvision rep was visiting our supplier who offered to quiz him on my behalf.

 

Does it work on non-Hikvision cameras (is some of the processing done at the camera or is it all on the NVR)?

Whether it can track/find a particular face/body across a range of footage (a frequent request, currently done manually)?

 

Yes

 

How reliable that would be across ~600 pupils all wearing roughly the same clothes and 200 sixth formers that also look pretty similar.

 

Used in high traffic areas and pretty reliable

 

Has the hardware been upgraded to cope with the increased processing load without affecting responsiveness of the UI/other people accessing it to view footage at the same time.

 

Yes the hardware is specific for this application – Deep in mind NVR + specific smart cameras
