[ms office - 2016] Cannot click on minimised windows to full size them

Seems to happen if there are around at least 5 or 6 windows open - often powerpoint but not always. Clicking on the minimised tab does nothing. Right click open sometimes works but not always.

 

Any ideas as to why this might be happening?

I'd love to try. I hate Office Richard. Leaves unfinished mugs of tea.

 

@witch I've tried replicating the issue but I can't. I once had a similar problem in Powerpoint 2010 a few years ago when it transpired that one of the windows was (almost) off-screen, I just caught sight of the corner pixel of it in the bottom right and managed to drag it back. Can't remember why it happened.

Windows 7, and I can't replicate it either!

Do you see anything if you hover over the taskbar icon?

If the windows were opened on another screen/projector that has now been disconnected you could click the taskbar button of one of the open PowerPoint document(s) to make it active and then use the Windows + left/right arrow keys to move the window(s) back onto the primary display.

Nothing to see anywhere. This is just on her laptop which is permanently attached to her interactive whiteboard. I will go and see her and get her to show me again - maybe the docs have moved somehow

What seems to be happening is that she will open one word doc, minimise it and then when she goes to open it again, nothing happens. If she right clicks, she can see a list of documents, all of which she had previously closed. If she clicks on one of these, it opens. She clicks the cross to close it, and it closes, except that it is still in the list when she right clicks the minimised word doc, as are all the others, so round and round we go

Don't know. Where would I look for those then? I certainly havent put anything on there

I had actually done the File-Options-Addins bit - thought there might be something else, but sadly not it seems

Have you ascertained if it's only happening on her account or anyone who logs into the machine? Do you use roaming profiles?

I know this sounds stupid but I had this with google chrome where it wouldn’t minimise or maximise and it was because windows 7 wasn’t in aero?, could this be the problem

Don't know if it is in Aero - will check

We use roaming profiles and this happens on this computer only no matter who is logged in - although I did nuke the profiles both on the laptop and on the server just in case

So it's definitely machine-related and not unique to a specific user.

 

I know you've done an office repair but for completeness I'd recommend a full reinstall.
