Roaming laptops

For those of you with staff laptops which are used both inside your LAN and taken home what are you currently using to deploy \ manage them?

 

• domain-joined gives the best internal experience but then needs a VPN to work smoothly externally.
  
• Azure AD Join is slick for Office 365 users and the lighter-touch management is more in keeping with the modern deployment methods MS seem to be pushing but really needs InTune to manage it in any meaningful way.

On prem domain join doesnt seem to be enough anymore.

 

Maybe hybrid with crucial systems behind a VPN/Direct Access/ Remote App.

We do it the easy way and give everyone a Chromebook....

Staff have got enrolled chromebooks here which they can take home if they want, working well!

Is there a decent RDS client available for Chromebook yet? Not sure if there's a decent one out there now but being a primarily MS \ Office 365 estate we have a lot of apps that still need some sort of Windows desktop.

 

Agree with you on Chromebook being the easy way to do it though!

We use Ericom Accessnow for staff access to SIMS on Chromebooks. Works well.

For general RDP there is the Microsoft Android app or ChromeRDP (on the Chrome Web store).

Have you setup Microsoft's remote desktop web client? You would then be able to use Chrome.

didn't realise they'd finally released the production version of this and for 2016 as well, thanks @Arthur that makes life a LOT easier!

 

As a follow-up to this thread I've now cracked deploying Azure AD Join with MDT & Autopilot so it's possible to reimage a machine to Win10 and get it into Azure with minimal effort on the user's part
