[ms office - o365] OPPTransition, for Device Based Activation "Preflight Check Error - Wait"

I now have the correct licenses in our Office 365 Tenant, both "Office 365 A1 Plus for faculty" and "Office 365 A1 Plus for students" are in place.

 

However, when I run OPPTransition with the following command, I get the error below:

 

OPPTransition.exe -Tenant ID Azure AD here -Key ba36435a-990f-486b-9494-c4df8e3457ef -Domain wsat.onmicrosoft.com -Version 16

 

Preflightcheck failed - wait: 482

 

It then waits for 482 seconds, then I get more "Preflightcheck failed" errors and more waiting.

 

Anyone got any ideas what's causing this?

 

My configuration.xml is:

 

 

And I have downloaded the installer into a folder called Office in the same directory as the OPPTransition files.

Is wsat.onmicrosoft.com your managed domain ? as an example this is our commandline to get DBA working on a machine with O365 already installed.

 

OPPTransition.exe -Tenant -Key -Domain leedsbeckett.onmicrosoft.com -Version 16 -NoInstall -NoUninstall -Verbose

 

We initially followed this webpage https://sysadminedu.wordpress.com/2017/01/07/step-by-step-guide-to-deploying-office-365-pro-plus-with-device-based-activation-with-sccm/ to get things up and running (including the part about installing office as part of our base image, then just doing license activation in the task sequence).

Yes, that's our domain. When you say "our key", where is this defined? Everything I've seen doesn't seem to specify where that comes from?

 

EDIT: OH! I see it now. That'll be my issue then...

 

EDIT 2: Yep. That's working now, with the right key in place.

On the webpage I linked to, one of the first steps is to go to http://aka.ms/OfficeDBASignup and sign up to use DBA, and that runs through the process of creating your key.

Is anyone still seeing this? Our O365 ProPlus install just broke yesterday. We have been pushing it out as a post install task in KACE when it broke yesterday. We had just changed over to the new DBA (device based activation) a few weeks ago. Funny, because our previous O365 install also broke at the same time. Gotta be something on the MS end...

The solution was in post post 17 of the thread as you can create the OPPTransition with SCA which seems to be working fine

Cheers; did that as per another guide, looks like I've either missed something or wasn't patient enough for syncs to occur

Argh, no I read it right - it all requires higher paid for subscriptions like A3 or having the SKU otherwise added. Groan! Edited June 30, 2020 by synaesthesia

Ours is using standard A1 Plus For Student/Faculty that we used with DBA previously.
