Print Artist Equivelent.

The Year 6 teacher at one of the primarys I do had a Win98 machine (which I've finally put out of its misery) with something called Print Artist on it.

 

It doesn't work on XP what so ever. So I need some sort of similar replacement software. Does anyone have any suggestions of anything thats XP compatible that'll do banners/cards/newsletters and stuff in a stupid proof wizard driven way? (No, not a DTP package before you start on that tack).

Strange, I installed PA on my wifes XP laptop with no problems at all. Ok it still only uses 8.3 filenames, so lookin~1 for files can be intere~1

 

What version, problems you having?

Just 'Print Artist', there's no version number.

 

Error is "You need Windows 3.1 or greater to run this application".

Have you tried running it in compatability mode for Win95/98?

Print Artist 17 Platinum (or whatever their latest version is) can normally be found for a few quid down a local stationay shop in the cheap software titles.

 

But normally the users hate anything else other than the version they've been brought up on.

 

We are a Print Artist 3 family but I haven't tried installing it on my wife's new computer - I'll try and dig it out to see if what happens for you.

Strange...

 

I have Print Artist v3 (got free with an Epson Stylus 400 years ago!) running on XP Pro here absolutely no problem at all. Not even any need for compatibility mode.

 

Have to concur with the difficulty of finding files with the 8.3 filenames though, although this version has a nice 'Descriptive Name' feature where it can see its own long filenames from within the application, so as long as you only look for files from File, Open... its OK.

Can't find the CD(PA3) but just copied the files onto my XP machine and just ran pawin.exe - gave some error about not finding some graphics the 1st time but worked fine the second time.

does anyone know where the default location of clipart/templates that PA 4 uses are stored?

I have Print Artist 3 installed on a Win XP machine with SP3?
