Hi guys

got a really bizarre one, so i need to restore a users mailbox from a recovery database. Recovered database from DPM, did all the clean shutdown, creation, mounting and all that.

but i can not for the life of me find this mailbox, ive gone back 3 months prior to the mailbox being deleted, i can see every other mailbox ive deleted, literally every one, except the one i need!

all log files came back ok, when i ran eseutil before i created the recovery database. I got no errors during the entire process.

Its just so odd that i cant even find the mailbox from month backups that i know for a fact it was definitely in! and i already checked with HR, no name change at any point either.

Has anyone ever had something like this before or have any suggestions for logs to look at or commands to run, maybe something im missing, this is my first time doing anything like this with exchange :)

(Exchange 2013 on server 2012r2)

I've had that, and it was due to the mailbox not actually being disabled/deleted but was actually still attached. Never showed up in the lists as a result. Simplest thing, completely overlooked. Have a thorough look through - perhaps it's attached elsewhere?

Hi,

thanks for your reply. So, i found a command that tells me what databases a mailbox is in and turns out that user has a mailbox in the archive database, which im pretty sure you can restore from, so its recovering it now and finger crossed, i can restore it from there, i didnt even think to check that!
