Parents using an account with One Drive for homework?

Not sure if this belongs here but as it is vaguely Office 365 related...

 

We block all non-encrypted USB sticks and have set up an Office 365 account for students to email in their work.

However, some work - powerpoints usually - are too big for this - and I am wondering what to do.

They could have access to the one drive associated with the email account and put stuff there, but they would be able to see other people's work and possibly delete it

 

 

What solutions do you have for this?

Do the students have their own Office 365 account? if so there should not be a file limit to upload to their own OneDrive.

 

 

Of course, with regards to Powerpoint, the simple solution is for users to ensure they compress any pictures within the presentation (we often get PPTX down from 70mb to under 1mb via that route)

Student uploads to their own one drive then emails share link to staff member who can access it, nothing attached but can view.

If they had their own account there wouldnt be a problem.

How do you compress a powerpoint all at once?

If you have to do each image - i cant see parents wanting to bother with that (or be capable of it, in some cases)

You don't have to click each picture, you can do it all via 1.

 

Click any picture in the Powerpoint, and the Picture Tools/Format should appear on the ribbon.

Click on the Compress Picture icon (just to the right of the colour corrections in the top left of the ribbon)

Untick the Apply only to this picture. If given the option, we recommend using Web resolution. Click ok and then save.

Could you setup a Microsoft Form with the ability to attach files? That way you can transfer the large files without having size problems - plus they won't need Office 365 Logins.

Me too. How do you do that??

Well you could create a basic form. Collect the students name and class or something similar. And then allow the attachments. The teacher can see the results in a spreadsheet and access the attachments. Granted it wasn't designed for that but it should do the trick.

I would think onedrive or google would be the way to go here? Google probably the easier to use option as the teacher could just create their own classroom and then the pupils can view anything the teacher puts up as well as submitting work to the teacher securely .

 

I take it this is a primary and pupils may not have their own accounts?

Yep. We are Office 365 but the children do not have their own accounts

Unfortunately MS Forms doesn't allow uploading documents just yet, however google forms does. Is there a way to use MS flow along with Google drive? MS Flow is very powerful in what it can do.
