Recommend a SMTP provider?

Can anyone recommend a good SMTP provider for personal use? I currently use Yahoo.co.uk with Thunderbird, for handling my mail to and from several domains I own.

 

Service is getting pretty bad in last 6 months. Intermittantly can't send via SMTP (haven't been able to send at all for two weeks now). Sometimes can't connect either to Yahoo's SMTP or webmail.

 

Their support isn't much help. I'm not convinced I'm even communicating with a real person - the answers aren't relevant to my questions.

 

I used Yahoo because they're only £11.99 a year, but would willingly pay a little more for something reliable.

That's just the sort of thing I want.

 

It looks like the business plans allow for multiple addresses, limited by the number of outgoing relays - is that right?

I don't to be honest I've gone for the family plan and use 3 email addresses with that.

 

I even use it as my outgoing smtp server for me lea mail as the one they provide is rubbish.

 

Drop them an email and ask would be the best thing.

I use Authsmtp for lots of clients. Very reasonable.

 

SMTP relay service - authenticated SMTP email service, mobile / relaying denied and SMTP errors solved.

Have you not considored using Gmail but with your own domain?

hotmail allows mail for your own domains too apparently.. been meaning to test it out.. might give it a try one of these days.

Thanks everyone. I'll probably go with either authsmtp.com or smtp.com. They look the most professional.

 

Gmail looks good but you're limited to one domain per gmail account, which would make it complex to manage several domains from the same email client. I've also seen an old report that they replace your from: address with the gmail address - I don't know if they still do this though.

 

I'm wary of the free ones like Hotmail. I want proper support who can help. (Mind you, yahoo wasn't free and their support is hopeless! - it takes two weeks to get an irrelevant response.)

Added a couple of domains to hotmail today.. Was a breeze, it showed exactly what to put in the MX record and was up and running in seconds. 500 email accounts limit to begin with but you can get more for free you just need to ask so it says.
