Bev Posted November 7, 2018 Posted November 7, 2018 We use Netsupport on our PCs to monitor browsing and it emails with any concerns - it's fab, but I can't get it to work on the iPads. I've been onto NetSupport and our council and neither can understand why. Does anyone use anything else that I can trial, as we have a lot of iPads in school now and lack of monitoring is a concern. Bev We've trialed a few products but none ever seem to be that great. I think it comes down to how locked down the iPad. Developers can only do what apple allow them to do. Most products make you use their own app/browser which does the filtering. We use our firewall for monitoring browsing and emailing reports. If you need classroom management with iPad it might worth setting up Apple Classroom.
Bev Posted November 7, 2018 Author Posted November 7, 2018 I am happy to lock them into a browser, that's how netsupport is supposed to work. We do use Apple Classroom, which is great when they are in class, but our pupils have their own iPads and the screens aren't going to be monitored at all times. I'd like to be able to see browser history if there is an issue. Unfortunately, our firewall is at the council and we don't have easy access to reporting.
bald_pig Posted November 7, 2018 Posted November 7, 2018 If that's all you need then you are probably best off just getting some secondary filtering/logging, I know TMG could do it but was axed.
Brimstone Posted November 7, 2018 Posted November 7, 2018 Lightspeed Relay will give you the browser history per user, that’s as long as you are using iPads in 1:1 as reports on user are based on the MDM User configured. Other solutions using their own browser completely cripple the iPad and do not work relying on end users to log in and out of the browser.
Bev Posted November 7, 2018 Author Posted November 7, 2018 We are using Lightspeed for our MDM so this maybe a good optoin.
Securly_Chris Posted November 8, 2018 Posted November 8, 2018 Hi Bev, Securly can provide safeguarding filtering and monitoring on your iPads. Works on and off-site too without installing any special browser or software. Drop me a quick message if you're interested? Happy to arrange a free trial for you. -Chris

Bev Hi Bev. Netsupport app should be able to do this. I’ll have a chat with support for you.
nathan3388 Posted November 8, 2018 Posted November 8, 2018 We use forti analyzer but that is because we have a fortigate Firewall, don't know if it works independent from the fortigate. It works really well, pulls google searches all youtube searches, websites etc. We make the children sign into the web browser through our firewall that is using ldap, so that the kids can use their ad credentials to login (saves another login_. This is how we do the shared devices monitoring and reports.

We also have reports setup to email the safe guarding leads of each site about google search terms and specific web accessing categories.
