Sounds like a similar team and feel, but all to do with "Penny Dreadful". I could just about understand if they were using a similar concept, but using more US-centric characters. I'm guessing that the lawyers nixed the idea of using (say) Doc Savage.

 

Also, how come the original was obviously told to wind up before at least a season before it was ready/planned, but it's got enough recognition to launch a new show?
