[sims] Hide an individual student's address to staff

Hi!

 

Is there any way to hide the home addresses of specific students in SIMS so that they're only visible to say, certain security groups?

SIMS does permissions by user, by that I mean a user can either see contact details for students or they can't. SIMS doesn't have the capability of altering those permissions on a student by student basis. If the address is really that sensitive then I'd suggest removing it from SIMS altogether and use another system with higher permission/security features for storing that 1 piece of information about that student.

You should have an address for the student for the census and generating ULNs.

there are provisions for exceptional circumstances where it is acceptable to add them manually after the fact or not at all. (e.g. National Security grounds)

In our school, we insert the school address for such a student. This also identifies to the “seniors” that it is such a student. Real address is in secure paper records.

We have always done this where some estranged parents are not to be given addresses, to prevent mistakes!
