Hybrid Posted October 19, 2018 Posted October 19, 2018 Morning guys, Had a weird issue starting to spread around two of our sites with Google Chrome, whereby a user cannot download anything from any webpage. When they click on a link, the browser's refresh button appears to flash and nothing appears to download. Both of the sites have auto update enabled on Chrome and they both have the same AV (Panda) installed. The only quick way I can get the user to download files again is to delete the local appdata folder for Chrome. I haven't as of yet found which folder/file it is causing the issue inside of AppData, but that's on my list today. Just wondering if anyone had any suggestions at all? Cheers
Marci Posted October 19, 2018 Posted October 19, 2018 Got any policies that could be defaulting download folder to a location that either doesn't exist or that the user doesn't have write permissions to?
Hybrid Posted October 19, 2018 Author Posted October 19, 2018 Nope, nothing set like that. The GPO is set to prompt the user for a location to save to. It's almost like Chrome isn't talking to Explorer. Totally weird.
andyk1975 Posted October 19, 2018 Posted October 19, 2018 Having the same issues today in school. Teachers are reporting that they can't download attachments from email using Chrome browser. Works fine in IE and Edge, but not Chrome. All worked fine yesterday and no changes have been made on the network / Group Policy. Will be checking Windows Updates to see whether they have broken anything! 1
sloughman Posted October 19, 2018 Posted October 19, 2018 Same here, called to someone today who wanted to download doc attachment from email in chrome, wouldn't work...nothing happens but works in IE. No changes, previously worked fine.

More info: To avoid this problem in Chrome, users may be able to navigate to https://outlook.office365.com/owa/ and sign in to access attachments as expected. Additionally, affected users may download attachments in Outlook on the web through an alternative browser. Current status: Our analysis indicates that the cause of this problem is outside the Microsoft-managed environment; however, we'll continue to track this issue and provide updates as they become available. Affected users are encouraged to use the workaround options listed in the "More Info" section above. Scope of impact: Any user attempting to open Outlook on the web email attachments in Chrome could be impacted. Preliminary root cause: A code issue contained in a recent update to the Chrome browser has affected the ability to download attachments in Outlook on the web. ColonelPanic Posted October 19, 2018 Posted October 19, 2018 All Windows 10 1709/1803. Most of our users use the Outlook desktop client, as they don't move between classrooms too much. We did put a workaround in place by changing our OWA desktop shortcut to open in IE

caffrey Posted October 19, 2018 Posted October 19, 2018 I'm guessing this is chrome 70, don't suppose anyone's browser crashes when they go to upload an image ? For a quick test, use the cog on the main screen in the bottom left and change wallpaper - upload from PC

maxrebo Posted January 24, 2019 Posted January 24, 2019 The same as you no but I think we were on v69 when we had the problem and updating to v70 fixed it straight away. We haven't had any reported issues recently
