Teams for education roll-over

Does anyone use Microsoft Teams for Education here? We used it last year and it was great. Rolled over the SDS sync during the summer which worked fine.

 

Now a teacher is asking for the work from last year to be retrieved from one of the teams, does anyone know if this is even possible? If so how would I find it?

 

The students onenote links are just dead links, and obviously we now have different class "teams" this year.

Great, wish I'd known about that sooner Sadly it seems a lot of our groups got changed to "expiredxxxxxxxxxx" and have since been deleted for over 60 days now.

So if you're using it what does it delete automatically? The children's work? The discussions?

I “Think” Microsoft can still help retrieve the data, but don’t quote me on that

After speaking with SDS support, apparently it just archives them to the expiredxxxxx team names. The teams currently have no members so its hard to work out if the data is actually there, but Microsoft have told me nothing is deleted so at least its a good sign. Now to find out how to become a member of those old teams!

I would agree that the 'end of school year' scenario needs further development. It's not ideal for KS4 or where projects stretch over two school years - especially at scale.

 

I kept our expired classes active but hidden until pretty much this week just in case anyone needed anything but had briefed those who I knew would ask, and got them to migrate work/sections to the new Team/Notebook. In some cases the more able students could manage this themselves.

 

If student's work (looking at the owner/creator attribute) could follow them somehow to new Teams, or default to their OneDrive when a team is expired that may be a better solution.
