Problems with publisher

A few staff members have reported that when they open up a publisher document, it just comes up with a black page. It is extremely tempremental when it does this, but the only solution is for them to log off and restart the PC, log back in for the document to open up properly again. Has anyone had a similiar problem and is there a solution to this problem please. I have attached a image, if you look on the left of the image, this is what happens.

I vaguely remember having this issue with word 2010, some people it was fixed by turning off graphics acceleration in the app settings, some people by a reinstall of office, but what ultimately fixed it was upgrading to 2013...
